FUNIBER Celebrates World Teachers’ Day with the Launch of a Teacher Care Program

In celebration of World Teachers’ Day, the Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana (Ibero-American University Foundation, FUNIBER) is launching the Teacher Well-being Program and organizing activities related to teacher care. The activities are organized in collaboration with the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana (International Ibero-American University of Puerto Rico, UNIB), the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana de México (International Ibero-American University of Mexico, UNINI México), the Fundación Universitaria Internacional de Colombia (International University Foundation of Colombia, UNINCOL), the Universidade Internacional do Cuanza (International University of Cuanza, UNIC), and the Universidad de La Romana (University of La Romana, UNIROMANA).

Teacher Well-being Program

Over the past three years, the project «Digital Academy in Teaching Practice for a Seamless Transition from Pre-Service to In-Service,» funded by the European community in partnership with the Ibero-American University Foundation (FUNIBER), has developed resources for teacher training.

The main objective has been to improve the practical training of primary and secondary school teachers in European Union countries, thus contributing to reducing burnout syndrome and professional dropout.

Led by the European University of the Atlantic and in collaboration with other European institutions, we have developed an international teacher training platform with massive participation from educational institutions and educators. Recently, the project won third place in the European Union Project of the Year award, judged by an international panel, and first place in social media voting at the prestigious ACEEU Triple E Awards, held at a ceremony in Prague, Czech Republic.

The project has ended, but our work continues. With the commitment to promoting our social responsibility in education through actions aimed at the comprehensive professional training, we have organized a social transfer of the project’s results to continue its findings through the Teacher Well-being Program.

The program originates within the framework of the collaboration agreement between the European University of the Atlantic and the Social Action Department of FUNIBER. This is a comprehensive approach focused on professional care to increase teacher well-being and reduce teacher attrition.

The DigitalTA Learning Community

The program will also organize monthly seminars on Teacher Well-being, in Spanish, covering the main topics emerging on the DigitalTA platform (Digital Technologies, Diversity and Inclusion, School Culture, Classroom Management, Communication, Professional Planning, Curriculum Development, etc.).

The digital platform acts as a communicative support for the teaching community. The meetings bring together the community of participating students and teachers from Spanish-speaking countries in a synchronous, reflective space for one hour each month.

New Publication: «Toolbox for Teacher Care»

With the launch of the program, we have prepared the publication «Toolbox for Teacher Care,» available free of charge in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.

In this publication, we seek to offer resources that promote teacher well-being through guidelines, strategies, and courses of action that can serve as tools for collective teacher care.

We hope that the publication will serve as a reference for teachers, teacher trainers, school administrators, and the school community.

Roundtable: «Learning the Teaching Profession in Community»

On October 2 at 5:00 PM (Spain), we will host a roundtable in Spanish, «El aprendizaje del oficio docente en comunidad» with the participation of teachers Lidia Criado and Daiana Grande, moderated by Dr. Thomas Prola.

The conference is free and open to anyone interested in the topic and will be broadcast live in each country where FUNIBER operates.
