The director of FUNIBER’s Technology Center participates in a study that seeks to improve customer communication in the software industry

Dr. Daniel Gavilanes Aray, director of the Technology Center at the Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana (Ibero-American University Foundation, FUNIBER), is participating in a study that proposes a blockchain-based solution to improve requirements management and customer communication in the software industry.

In the software industry, it is essential to properly manage requirements and maintain effective communication with customers to ensure the success of projects. However, traditional practices often lack traceability, transparency, and trust, which can lead to misunderstandings, delays, and ultimately project failure.

Previously, various solutions have been proposed to improve efficiency in requirements management and customer communication, but many of them do not adequately address the issues of traceability and transparency. These shortcomings can result in contractual disputes and a lack of trust between the parties involved.

The study introduces the UniferCollab framework, which uses blockchain technology to securely and transparently store all requirements and authorizations shared by customers. By implementing a permissive network, the integrity and traceability of information is guaranteed, enabling automatic notifications for any changes to the current system, executed through smart contracts.

To evaluate the effectiveness of the UniferCollab framework, 800 hypertext protocol requests (HTTP) were made using Postman, with block sizes on the blockchain ranging from 0.568 KB to 550 KB. An average increase of 280 KB in block size was observed as new blocks were added. Latency analysis revealed that delays in HTTP request processing were influenced by decentralized node processing, local machine response times, and Internet bandwidth.

The results of the study indicate that the UniferCollab framework effectively addresses requirements management and customer communication issues in the software industry. By improving traceability, transparency, and trust, it optimizes the customer experience and facilitates dispute management.
