FUNIBER Organizes the “Conversations on Educational Emancipation: A Shared Reading Among Teachers” Webinar

On October 8th at 5:00 p.m. (Spain), the Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER) will host a webinar in Spanish, titled “Conversations on Educational Emancipation: A Shared Reading Among Teachers,” featuring educators Alba Flores, Fernando Esono, Sofía Zambrano, and Ariel Canabal, moderated by Dr. Thomas Prola.

The event is being held in collaboration with the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana de Puerto Rico (International Iberoamerican University, UNIB), the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana de México(International Iberoamerican University of Mexico, UNINI México), the Fundación Universitaria Internacional de Colombia (International University Foundation of Colombia, UNINCOL), the Universidade Internacional do Cuanza (International University of Cuanza, UNIC) and the Universidad de La Romana (University of La Romana, UNIROMANA).

During this event, there will be a group reading of the book “The Ignorant Schoolmaster” by the French philosopher and essayist Jacques Rancière. This proposal invites us to collectively engage with a work that raises questions about equality, emancipation, and the relationships that are formed in the processes of teaching and learning. The shared reading will be an opportunity to pause, discuss, and explore how Rancière’s ideas relate to the experiences and questions that shape teaching today.

The event aims to make reading a space for exchange: reading with others, listening to different interpretations, and raising new questions about the meaning of teaching and learning.

This session is being held on the anniversary of the FUNIBER Teacher Well-Being Program, an initiative led by Dr. Thomas Prola. It stems from the collaboration agreement between the Universidad Europea del Atlántico and the Social Action Area of the Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER), as well as the partners in the Erasmus+ DigitalTA project (2022–2025). It is a comprehensive approach focused on professional care to increase teacher well-being and reduce teacher attrition.

The conference is free of charge and open to anyone interested in the topic. It will be broadcast live in each country where FUNIBER is present. Broadcast schedules are available at this link.
