FUNIBER mourns the passing of Joan Escolà, vice-president of the Foundation

The Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana (Iberoamerican University Foundation, FUNIBER), its president and the members of the board of trustees deeply regret the death of Joan Escolà, vice-president of the FUNIBER board of trustees and one of the main people responsible for the international expansion of the Foundation and the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO).

From FUNIBER, we express our condolences, love and affection to all his family, colleagues and loved ones. Joan Escolà was a member of the FUNIBER board of trustees from the time of its consolidation, contributing his dedication and effort as key elements in the consolidation of the Foundation and turning it into an institution with a global reach, which today is distinguished by its internationalization.

In addition to his important role in the academic and professional spheres, Joan Escolà was an exceptionally human person, whose character and values transcended the functions he performed. His warm manner, his generosity and his ability to listen to and support others left an indelible mark on all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. His commitment to education and his passion for contributing to people’s development made him a role model both inside and outside the Foundation.

Joan Escolà will be remembered not only for his professional achievements, but also for his kindness, his vision and the positive impact he had on the educational community. Furthermore, it is worth noting that, in recognition of his contribution to the academic community, the library of UNEATLANTICO was named in his honor in October 2018.

FUNIBER declares three days of official mourning in honor of Joan Escolà.
