The Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER) and the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic,UNEATLANTICO) have signed a collaboration agreement with the Centro Internacional de Posgrados de Guinea Ecuatorial “Verónica Eyang” (International Postgraduate Center of Equatorial Guinea “Verónica Eyang”, CIPVE) and the Academia Ecuatoguineana de la Lengua Española (Equatoguinean Academy of the Spanish Language, AEGLE).
The Director of Institutional Relations of the Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana (FUNIBER), F. Álvaro Durántez Prados; the rector of UNEATLANTICO, Rubén Calderón Iglesias; and Fernando Ignacio Ondo Ndjeng Afang, president of the Centro Internacional de Postgrados de Guinea Ecuatorial “Verónica Eyang” (CIPVE) and full member of the Academia Ecuatoguineana de la Lengua Española (AEGLE), have formalized this agreement whose main objective is to strengthen and develop academic, scientific, and cultural programs, as well as the exchange of teachers and professionals between the signatory institutions.
The agreement underscores the shared commitment of the four entities to promote knowledge and strengthen ties among Spanish-speaking countries. This agreement also seeks to highlight the African identity and dimension, especially the Equatoguinean one, within the multinational Iberophone Space through the dissemination of Hispanic culture and the Spanish language.
Areas of collaboration include the development of national and international cooperation projects, the dissemination of graduate, postgraduate, master’s, and doctoral academic programs in Equatorial Guinea, and the organization of joint conferences, courses, and meetings. In addition, special emphasis will be placed on the training of teachers of Spanish as a foreign language, promoting a powerful educational offer for the African continent.
Similarly, the agreement also stipulates the creation of a FUNIBER representative office at the CIPVE facilities in Bata, Equatorial Guinea, to facilitate the management of scholarships and academic programs from which Equatoguinean students and alumni can benefit.
This agreement also seeks to promote cultural, economic, and social progress through cooperation and the exchange of knowledge between the signatory institutions. It also consolidates a strategic alliance that promises great benefits for the educational and cultural spheres of Spanish-speaking countries.
Specific agreement between FUNIBER and the Centro Internacional de Posgrados de Guinea Ecuatorial
For their part, representatives of the Iberoamerican University Foundation and the Centro Internacional de Posgrados de Guinea Ecuatorial have signed a specific bilateral agreement aimed at distance training in more than eighty postgraduate academic programs, including specialties, master’s degrees, and doctorates, with emphasis on the qualification of teachers in applied linguistics: teaching Spanish to speakers of other languages. From Equatorial Guinea, this measure will promote the creation of a powerful Spanish language teaching offer for the entire African continent, a strategic objective within the framework of Iberophony.
