The Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER) will organize, next May 31 at 18:00 hours (GMT+2), the webinar “Questions of ontology: the cardinal ideas of materialist ontology”, which will be given by Emmanuel Martínez Alcocer.
The event is held in collaboration with the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana de Puerto Rico (International Iberoamerican University, UNIB), the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana de México (International Iberoamerican University of Mexico, UNINI Mexico), the Fundación Universitaria Internacional de Colombia (International University Foundation of Colombia, UNINCOL), the Universidade Internacional do Cuanza (International University of Cuanza, UNIC), and the Universidad de La Romana (University of La Romana, UNIROMANA).
The webinar will deal with the main features surrounding materialist ontology. Ontology must be a substantial part of a philosophy that currently presents itself as a systematic philosophy. The Gustavo Bueno Foundation (FGB), a collaborator in the event, assumes that any philosophy that wants to reflect on the state of the world and offer a coherent map of the world – in a philosophical sense – must be a systematic philosophy. This systematism is oriented to its parts without falling into the idea that all the parts communicate with each other in a uniform and total way.
It is rather a matter of understanding the system through the Platonic idea of symploké according to which not everything is connected with everything, but not atomistically disconnected either. The cardinal ideas of ontology, general ontology (M), special ontology (Mi) and the transcendental ego (E) realize the idea of symploké.
Emmanuel Martínez holds a degree in Philosophy and is an associate researcher at the Gustavo Bueno Foundation.
The conference is free and open to all those interested in the subject, and will be broadcast live in each country where FUNIBER has a presence.
