The Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER), at its Colombia office, and the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) held a formal ceremony to present the first place prize of the 2025/2026 International Pre-University Prize – FUNIBER Research, at the Colegio Americano de Cali, for the research project “Sustainable Technology: ECOBOT and School Waste Management at Colegio Americano de Cali.”
The award was presented to student Juan Fernando Rojas Ramírez and professor Juan Sebastián Cardona Corredor. FUNIBER’s representative in Colombia, Nancy Ceballos, presented the prizes and congratulated and recognized the student and the teacher on their work. The event was attended by teachers, students, and the student’s family members.
The winning entry was selected from among the 35 submitted projects, which, through careful observation of their surroundings, have conducted socially or environmentally relevant research on issues related to the 2030 Agenda. In the first phase, the jury selected five finalist projects for the oral presentation, which took place on April 21st. Following this final stage, the jury—made up of specialists from FUNIBER’s academic network—evaluated the students’ presentations, tallied the points for the submitted research projects, and selected the winner.
The winning project stands out for its proposed technological innovation as a strategy for raising environmental awareness and managing waste within the student’s own school.
Congratulations to the student and the teacher on this significant achievement! At FUNIBER, we continue to foster young talent and a commitment to research in order to build a more sustainable future.
