Maurizio Battino, the International Director of the Health and Nutrition Area of the Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER), has been recognized as one of the most brilliant scientists in the world for the sixth consecutive year by the prestigious scientific review agency Clarivate Analytics.
Through the list of “Highly Cited Researchers”, the agency identifies the most cited scientists in the world, research authors in the first 1% of the global ranking, who have been mentioned more times in scientific or academic works throughout the year.
Dr. Battino’s name on the list is a recognition by the scientific community since it is the scientists and researchers in the same area themselves who make such mentions and place him among the most influential scientific minds in the world.
“This continued recognition makes me very happy” – says Battino – “It is the recognition of a winning and avant-garde scientific career”. Dr. Battino has been recognized in the “Highly Cited Researchers” list for six years now beginning in 2015, reiterating his influence at the scientific level.
Maurizio Battino, who holds a degree in Biological Sciences and a doctorate in Biochemistry, is known for his research in the field of nutrition and studies related to the effects of bioactive substances of plant origin on diseases.
His research, in particular, has focused on the relationships between food and aging, in the study of nutrition linked to periodontal diseases, fibromyalgia, cardiovascular diseases, obesity, and breast cancer.
His study linking the consumption of a particular type of strawberries (patented by colleagues in the Faculty of Agriculture) with the reduction of cholesterol, triglycerides, and the ability to regulate blood sugar is well known.
His commitment and passion for science, along with a great deal of cutting-edge research, has led him to hold important university professorships and to lead important global challenges, among other things. Maurizio Battino is also the International Director of the Health and Nutrition Area of the Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER), thanks to which, since 2005, he has established a series of Master and Advanced Courses in the nutritional field of which he is the coordinator at the Polytechnic University of Marche. These graduate study programs, innovative in their teaching methodology and technology, are internationally recognized for their absolute excellence.
