In 2023, the Cultural Work (Obra Cultural) of FUNIBER and the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) organized a large number of exhibitions with works by renowned artists, such as Picasso or Joan Miró, along with the celebration of the musical tours by pianist José Luis Nieto and violinist and orchestra conductor José Manuel Gil de Gálvez.
Exhibitions in progress
The exhibition hall of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (UNEATLANTICO) hosts three Picasso collections: ‘La Flute Double’, ‘La Tauromaquia’ and ‘Bocetos para Guernica‘, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the death of Pablo Picasso, one of the most outstanding artists of the 20th century, and in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico. The exhibition can be visited until the end of February.
Additionally, the Dalí collection “The Divine Comedy” is available for visit in Mexico. The Dalí exhibit is on display in the temporary exhibition hall of the Museo de los Conspiradores located in the heart of Querétaro’s historic center. It will be available to visit until February 4 next year from Tuesday to Sunday between 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico
José Luis Nieto, a renowned pianist with an extensive international career, gave a concert in November in the university’s auditorium to celebrate the institution’s ten years of activity. The pianist captivated the audience for more than an hour with his recital entitled “The Falla Passion (Pasión de Falla)“, a presentation that fused various musical pieces by the illustrious Spanish composer Manuel de Falla, including “The Three-Cornered Hat (El sombrero de tres picos)”, “Love, the Sorcerer (El amor brujo)”, and “Betic Fantasy (Fantasía bética)”.
During 2023, the pianist has completed a musical tour in Spain with several concerts in Switzerland, Mexico, and Morocco.
Gil de Gálvez’s musical tour
Violinist, chamber musician, and orchestra conductor José Manuel Gil de Gálvez held a concert tour during the month of October in Central America with the support of FUNIBER’s Cultural Work, UNEATLANTICO, and the Fundación Hispania Música.
Recently, the musician visited Angola, invited by the Spanish Embassy in the country, to carry out various musical activities. Gálvez has given a variety of violin, viola, and chamber music master classes and lectures at the Kapossoka School of Luanda, a conservatory in the country’s capital, as part of a program run by the Spanish Embassy. He has been accompanied by the Spanish composer and ethnomusicologist David Sáez, based in Angola.
Gil de Gálvez has also formed a duo with the world-famous tenor Nelson Ebo, with whom he has had the pleasure of performing for João Lourenço, the President of the Republic of Angola, at the inauguration of the country’s new international airport.
FUNIBER and UNEATLANTICO’s Cultural Work will continue to promote an approach of music and art with culture and society as a means of expression, not only of emotions and feelings but also of a way of life.
