The European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) awarded the university’s medal of honor to the Scientific Director of FUNIBER and UNEATLANTICO, Maurizio Battino, during the opening ceremony for the academic year on September 22nd.

The European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) awarded the university’s medal of honor to the Scientific Director of FUNIBER and UNEATLANTICO, Maurizio Battino, during the opening ceremony for the academic year on September 22nd. 

This medal of honor is considered the highest institutional distinction awarded to individuals or legal entities for their contributions and merits at the academic, social, cultural, scientific, or technical level. 

During the opening ceremony for the academic year, the President of FUNIBER, Dr. Santos Gracia, proceeded to the laudatio of the doctor and researcher Maurizio Battino, named in 2008 Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” of Bucharest (Romania).

In his speech, Dr. Gracia referred to the professional, scientific, and academic career of Battino, recognized as one of the most influential scientists in the world for six consecutive years, according to the prestigious scientific review agency Clarivate Analytics.

After the UNEATLANTICO rector, Rubén Calderón, presented the metal to Dr. Maurizio Battino, the latter gave an inaugural lecture entitled “Healthy diets: the role of natural bioactive compounds in our quality of life”.
