Joan Ramón Sanchis, Professor of Business Economics and member of the FUNIBER academic team in the International Master’s in Management of Cooperative Businesses, presents his new book titled “¿Es posible un mundo sin bancos? La revolución de las finanzas éticas y solidarias” (“Is a world without banks possible? The revolution of ethical and solidarity finances”).
In this new book, Doctor Sanchis, also the author of the book “La banca que necesitamos”, “The Bank that We Need”, proposes a silent revolution of finances at the world stage led by civil society through the three C’s: Comprehension, Consciousness and socially responsible financial Consumption.
The book offers a reflexion on the banking model that the present society requires, what are to be its fundamentals and what is to be its function as an instrument in the service of people. According to Sanchis, there is a need for a profound change in the banking model through ethics and social responsibility, betting on a banking of proximity linked to the needs of society. The book analysis financial reform/counter-reform, financial exclusion/inclusion, ethical and cooperative finances and the different systems of alternative finances against conventional banking, offering alternatives and solutions to the present problems.
