Sometimes, witness; sometimes, reflection. Photography helps us to extend our way of perceiving the world to generate knowledge and sensitivity.
We are interested in fostering talent, expression, and creativity. Additionally, to reflect on the challenges of today. Thus, in the sixth edition of the PHotoFUNIBER International Photography Contest, we launched a call for photographs that reflect on the value of water for life.
Thus, the Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER) presents the PHotoFUNIBER’24 International Photography Contest. Deadline to register and submit entries through the contest website begins this Friday, March 1, and will be open until April 1 at 23:59 (Spanish time).
Universities from FUNIBER’s collaborative network are participating in the contest, such as the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic), the International University of Cuanza (International University of Cuanza, UNIC), the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana (International Iberoamerican University, UNINI Mexico), the Fundación Universitaria Internacional de Colombia (International University Foundation of Colombia, UNINCOL), the Universidad de La Romana (University of La Romana, UNIROMANA), and the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana (International Iberoamerican University, UNIB).
The contest is open to anyone of legal age, from professional to amateur photographers residing in any of the countries where FUNIBER is present.
How to participate?
Contestants may only submit a single original image, which must not have been awarded in other contests or commercially exploited (whether for journalistic, advertising, or any other purpose). The image may not be made by artificial intelligence, but the subject can be represented creatively.
After an initial preselection of 100 entries, an Honorary Jury will evaluate the photographs and select the winners.
The finalist photographs will be available from April 23 via the contest website, where a popular vote will be held through likes on the Facebook social media that will last until May 15. The winners will be announced on June 10.
Awards
The author of the photograph chosen by the jury will receive a €400 prize and an 80% scholarship to study one of the postgraduate programs promoted by FUNIBER. The photograph with the most public votes will also receive a €300 prize and a 50% scholarship to study a postgraduate program sponsored by the organization.
A total of six special prizes will also be awarded to students and alumni of UNEATLANTICO, UNIC, and postgraduate students with FUNIBER scholarships who have completed their studies or are currently studying. Furthermore, honorable mentions may be given.
The winning entries of PhotoFUNIBER’24 will be exhibited at the Universidad Europea del Atlántico, in Santander (Spain).
The contest, promoted in the framework of FUNIBER’s Cultural Work, was created with the aim of recognizing talent, promoting the participation of students from the network, and generating a space for reflection and contemplation on the world around us.
