We interviewed him to learn about the MLS Sport Research scientific journal.

What is the focus of the MLS Sport Research journal?

The MLS Sport Research is a scientific journal that aims to publish original research and review articles in basic, applied, and methodological areas that contribute toward progress in the field of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences.

The journal implements an open access policy that increases the visibility, dissemination, and impact of scientific production.

What is the importance of publishing scientific articles in the field of physical activity?

The authors will be able to provide the scientific community with new contributions that will help professionals continue improving in the different areas of action.

The journal publishes its articles biannually in English, Spanish, and Portuguese which are carried out with methodological rigor, and which represent a contribution toward progress in the field of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences.

Is there a current trend for certain lines of research more than others in the area of sports? What would be the most researched topics?

The MLS Sport Research will address different areas within physical activity and sport, such as health, physical education, injury prevention and rehabilitation, first aid, new technologies, physiology, nutrition, psychology, leadership and management, training, and sports performance.

What recommendations would you make to authors who are interested in submitting articles to the journal?

As part of the submission process, authors are encouraged to review the checklist when preparing their submissions, the different guidelines to be followed, and the rules for authors. In addition, the published studies must comply with the different phases of research with methodological rigor, with the objective of disseminating quality manuscripts in different disciplines that cover the most relevant topics of the present day.

Álvaro Velarde is also the Coordinator of the Sports Area of the university network with which FUNIBER collaborates. FUNIBER’s participation in the MLS Sport Research journal shows, once again, the Foundation’s willingness to continue with the dissemination of knowledge and to extend scientific research to as many countries as possible.
